Jeff Buttress

Jeff was born and raised in North Yorkshire where he served an apprenticeship as a draughtsman.  He spent most of his early working life in Norway and Scotland where he came to love the wild landscape.  He moved to Strathspey in 1991 with his family to concentrate on his creative work. We are based in Carrbridge where he has his own studio/gallery that he shares with his wife Alice and daughter Amy.  Jeff works in watercolour, oils, acrylics, pastels and in pencil. He also does some work in ceramics, glass  and a bit of chainsaw carving. He tends to specialise in depicting the mountains, lochs and wild places of Scotland.

As well as a permanent exhibition at his own gallery, Carrbridge Artists Studio, he exhibits most years with the Scottish Potters Association at venues such as Milton Gallery at Milton of Crathes, The Smith Gallery at Stirling, The Bield at Perth and annually at Potfest Scotland held at Scone Palace.

Alice Buttress

A member of the Scottish Potters Association for nearly 30 years, Alice is an experienced  Potter, Sculptor and Ceramic Artist and has exhibited widely with the Scottish Potters Assoc. and other Art associations.  Her work includes an exclusive range of Pottery and Sculptures which is hand thrown, hand built or sculpted from stoneware or porcelain clay, the pieces are then glazed and fired in an electric or gas Raku kiln.

Amy Louise Buttress

Amy makes contemporary handbuilt ceramics, sculpture and jewellery. She also makes kiln fused glass jewellery and linocut prints. Her work is focused on natural forms and reflections and particularly inspired by the Scottish Highland wildlife, coastline and mountain areas.
